Thirty-three centuries ago, Jason sailed off in a galley “Argo” with a group of Greek Heroes in search for the Golden Fleece in to the ancient Colchis Kingdom, ruled by powerful Ayetes; it was situated on present day’s Georgian territory. Jason found here not only Golden Fleece but fell in love with Medea, Ayetes daughter.

This is 5 day private escorted tour from the second largest city in Georgia Kutaisi: the main highlights of the tour are 3 UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Ushguli village, Gelati academy and Bagrati Cathedral. Trace the steps of Mythical Argonauts from ancient Kingdom of Colchis to the astonishing uplands of Svaneti on the Great Caucasus Range.

In case of clear weather, we can see three main glasiers Shkhara Glacier-the highest mountain in Georgia 5068 m., Ushba 4700 m and Tetnuldi 4617 m.

Imereti region: Kutaisi city, Gelati Monastery and Academy, Bagrati Cathedral, Prometheus Caves

Samegrelo region: Zugdidi, Dadiani Palace

Svaneti region: Mestia town, Svan towers, Ushguli village, villages Ipari and Kala.

Arrival in Kutaisi International Airport. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Kutaisi.



Breakfast in the hotel; Drive to Zugdidi – administrative center of Samegrelo region. Excursion at Dadiani Palace – the former residence of Megrelian dukes. The museum complex includes: palaces of the Samegrelo queen Ekaterine Chavchavadze-Dadiani and Prince Niko Dadiani, court church, and the botanic garden. Continue our way to northern region of Georgia – Svaneti. Arrive to the town of Mestia – the center of Svaneti. Mestia is dominated by Svan towers – defensive structures which are characteristic only to this region. Overnight in Mestia.



Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to one of the most remotely located village in Europe – Ushguli. The village is also included in UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. The way to Ushguli is extremely attractive. You will find yourself in the realm of the towers, surrounded by the Caucasus Mountains, glaciers, high peaks and roaring waterfalls. If we are lucky wth weather, we can see three main glasiers on this day Shkhara Glacier-the highest mountain in Georgia 5068 m., Ushba 4700 m and Tetnuldi 4617 mю Take a walk towards Shkhara Glacier-the highest mountain in Georgia 5068 m. In the evening drive back to Mestia. Overnight in Mestia.




Breakfast at the hotel and drive back to Kutaisi. On the way go through Tskhaltubo Spa resort town and visit the karst caves approximatly 8 km nearby. Prometheus Caves are one of Georgia’s natural wonders and one of the largest in the world. There are various types of stalactites, stalagmites, curtains, petrified waterfalls, cave pearls, underground rivers, and lakes.

Explore Kutaisi city and its surroundings. Visit two UNESCO sites:

Gelati Monastery and Academy, which is a wonderful monumental specimen of Georgian architecture dating back to 12th c. AD. The structures that have survived up to the present day are: the main Cathedral, the spring, sheltered by the Bell Tower, the remains of the Academy, and south-west – the gate within whose passageway is preserved the slab over the grave of David the Builder.

Bagrati Cathedral, founded in 11th c. and named after King Bagrat III – the first King of unified Georgian Kingdom. The cathedral stands on the hill, in the heart of Kutaisi and dominates it as the main architectural landmark and the symbol of the city.
